Clubhouse at Okatie Creek, Sun City Hilton Head

Incumbent Jerry Stewart spoke to the group emphasizing his knowledge about the functions of council and how he took steps to ensure he was prepared for the job before he stepped into office. He indicated that the future is what needs to be considered because of the important issues that we’ll be dealing with. Two issues will be finding a new county administrator as Gary Kubic plans to retire at the end of 2015. The second issue is writing another comprehensive plan. The state requires that this be done every 10 years, to rewrite and revise the strategic plan which will be a long-term plan into the future. He also emphasized economy, education and environment and how important it is to make them work in harmony.
